How to Market Music on the Internet

Online Music Marketing is about one thing; building your fan base. An expanding fan base will naturally open exciting opportunities, develop an income from your music and raise awareness of your music amongst potential fans and valuable music industry prospects.

But to capture fans online requires you to think like a marketer and create as many different routes for potential fans to find you from.

How do you do this? There are of course may different ways that you can lay down breadcrumbs to lead people to your music online, but the first step is to define where those breadcrumbs should lead to – ideally what’s known as your ‘homebase’ – which may be an official site, a Myspace page, or many more alternatives.

Then what? The second step is to start exploiting all of the different platforms you have open to you, starting with the ones which will be most valuable for you. This may include working on a Twitter account that you use to build contacts, setting a blog up to communicate with fans, or using video seo (search engine optimisation) to increase your Youtube video plays.
