#TFAT! Tweet for a Track – A New Twitter Viral Campaign?

Do you like this story?

First of all, a litte shout out to Henry Cook for pointing TFAT out to me, thanks buddy!

For those of you who haven’t seen this already, Tweet for a track (or #TFAT) is a new website that allows you to set up a simple viral music campaign using Twitter. In fact the concept is so simple that they’ve summed it up in just four steps:

Step 1) Upload a song to the internet, post a tweet with a link to download the free MP3
Step 2) Your Friend “Joe” sees the tweet and clicks your link
Step 3) To get the free MP3 Joe reposts your tweet and is emailed a download link
Step 4) Joe’s friends see his tweet, clicks the link, posts their own tweets and spreads the promotion

But what happens if #TFAT becomes a popular hash tag on Twitter? The chances are that it will begin to get spammed by Twitter hash tag spammers like EMI Worldwide (shame on you guys!) and if too many musicians try to use this campaign it will exhaust quicker than you can say “Motherside Riverfucker” as people sign up to use Twitter to interact with friends and find out what their followers are up to – NOT to be bombarded with download links!
