Cowell Shows Rage Against the Facebook Group

If you’ve been on Facebook within the last few weeks you will have probably noticed the ‘Rage Against the X Factor’ group circulating the social networking. This group is going to make an attempt to get the controversial Rage Against the Machine hit song ‘Killing in the name of’ as this years christmas no.1. by purchashing the song in mass quantities.
X Factor judge Simon Cowell has taken this petition a little too personally and told the Telegraph:
“If there’s a campaign, and I think the campaign’s aimed directly at me, it’s stupid.”
“Me having a Number One record at Christmas is not going to change my life particularly,” he said. “It does however change these guys’ lives and we put this opportunity there so that the winner of The X Factor gets the chance of having a big hit record.”
However, let us take a step back here.
The Song ‘Killing in the name of’ is a Sony BMG catalogue track, and you guessed it, Simon Cowell is highly affiliated with Sony BMG with his record label Syco, he is unlikely to be too fussed as he most likely owns shares in Sony BMG.
So who really loses out if Rage Against the Machine gets the Christmas no.1?
Simon Cowell or the music fans?
